MICOM -1 HF-SSB
Rapid Deployment Package MOTOROLA Communications 1991
The MICOM-1 HF-SSB Rapid Deployment Package (RDP) unit,is a complete HF
system enclosed in a rugged suitecase. The RDP is convenient for
transportation and fast installation/removal, thus providing quick setup of
HF-SSB communications. The basic RDP configuration includes a transceiver
and a control panel which are interconnect by means of a specil smart serial
data bus. The serial bus tecnique in conjunction with special mechanical
design enables internal connection (as factory option or field retrofit kit)
of the Automatic Link Establishmeant (ALE) optional board. It also enables
implementation of any future option, instead of the ALE, without any
hardware or software modifications. It should be noted that it is possible
to add more than one option by means of an external option housing to be
connected to the RDP system connector. The RDP operates in the 2-30 MHz
frequency range with a power output of 125W PEP and average for voice and
data operation. The RDP has 126 operator selectable channels which may be
rogrammed for either simplex or half-duplex operation. In channel
programming the parameters of the pre-set channels are set as follows: -
Operating frequency (symples or half-duplex). - Mode of operation: SSB, AME
or PLT in either USB or LSB. - Output power (25 W, 60 W, 100 W, 125 W ). A
two-positio program switch with removable key can be locked to prevent
unauthorized access to the programming mode. When the RDP is switched off or
during power failure all channels parameters and the most recent operating
status are stored in non-volatile memory (EPROM). The special Build-In Test
Equipment (BITE) provides quick troubleshooting of the RDP. When the RDPis
switched on the test cycle is automatically preformed. A user-friendly
keyboard and Vacum Fluorescent Display (VFD) facilitate RDP operation,
channel programming and BITE activation. The reference frequency source of
the system is oven-stabilized for maintaining its rated frequency stability.
The RDP consists of fully solid-state components of the highest integration
density and of state-of-the-art modules with the latest SMD (surface mounted
devices) tecnology. The RDP is designed for rugged environment encountered
while transporting on trucks, planes (under a seat), or boats. The suitcase
is made of heavy gauge aluminium and is splash proof and dust resistant. The
transceiver, control panel and power supply are shock mounted.
