Radio Receiving Set AN/ARR-41 R-678
COLLINS - year 1950

Radio Receiving Set AN/ARR-41, designed for mounting in larger types of aircraft and capable of receiving Amplitude Modulated Radiotelefony (A3), Unmodulated cw Radiotelegrafy (A1), and Frequency Shift Keyed Radioteletype (A2), when an external converter is employed for operation of the printer. Radio Receiving Set AN/ARR-41 is a superheterodyne receiver capable of receiving r-f signals from 190 to 550 kilocycles and from 2 to 25 magacycles. Double conversion is used in all bands except band 2. The 2 to 4 megacycles band which is single conversion. Two r-f stages, three if stages and three audio stages are employed for amplification, which brings The over-all sensitivity to at least 100 milliwatts output for less 5 microvolt input selectivity is Obtained through resonant circuit in all bands and trough one of two magnetostriction mechanical Filters in the I.F. circuit. A built-in circuit consisting of a 500 kilocycle-cristal-controlled oscillator and a multivibrator provides for frequency calibration. Allowing frequencies to be set up accurately at each 100-kilocycles check point trough out the range of reception cooling within Radio Receiving Set AN/ARR-41 is accomplished by a dynamotor fan and by convecthon trough Louvers-Modular. Unitized constructionis employed, greatley simplifying trouble-shooting and maintenance operation.
